WGST myZou Help
Having trouble navigating the myZou system and finding all the course listings for Women's and Gender Studies courses? We'd like to help!
The most efficient way we've found to get a listing of all Women's and Gender courses is to do a Class Search for all courses in our unit (Course Subject = Women's and Gender Studies) with Course Number equal to or greater than 1000. Since our lowest numbered course is 1001, that will retrieve a listing of all our courses.
Log in to myZou using your pawprint and password, and find "Class Search/Browse Catalogs." This should be located in "Self Service" on the left-hand side grey Menu bar.
On the second "Class Search" screen, choose "Women's & Gender Studies" for the Course Subject (we're the last item on the list), and "greater than or equal to" for the Course Number. Fill in "1000" in the second blank of Course Number. Leave Course Career Blank. Check (or uncheck) Show Open Classes Only and Show Open Entry/Exit Classes Only, depending on how you'd like to limit your search. Use the "Search" button to proceed.
The screen shot below shows the beginning of the results of this search. Simply scroll down in your results to find all of the courses offered by the Women's & Gender Studies Department, listed in numerical order.
If you want you want to find only particular Women's & Gender Studies course(s), change your search terms to find the courses that meet your criteria.
Another problem that students report is being able to find the subject matter for our Topics courses (these are usually one or two-time offerings. This causes an obvious problem, because you understandably don't want to sign up for a course when you don't know its subject matter. Recognizing this problem, we have included a listing of current topic courses on Current Semester Courses. This list is updated each semester.
Information about Topics courses is present in myZou, but you have to drill down to find it.
The following screenshot shows a specific Women's & Gender Studies Courses for Spring 2008: WGST 2003 - Topics in Women's and Gender Studies-Behavioral.
To get more information about the course, click on the underlined "Section" link, 01-LEC(82337). This results in a screen with more detailed information about the course:
Keep scrolling down in this screen. Near the bottom, under the Notes section, the subject of this Topics Course is listed, in this case Chicana/Latina Identities. Please note that the Description listed at the bottom is the generic description for our topics courses, not the specific description for this semester's course. To find out more about this specific course, see our descriptions on Current Semester Courses.
