M. Killian Kinney, Ph.D., MSW, LSW

Dr. Kinney (they/them) is a postdoctoral fellow at Wayne State University and adjunct faculty at the University of Missouri teaching Transgender Studies in the depart of Women and Gender Studies.  A by, with, and for ethos is intrinsic to all their work.  As a visible and vocal queer nonbinary academic, their research and advocacy focus on LGBTQ health equity and wellbeing, particularly among transgender and nonbinary individuals.  An exemplar of their research is their dissertation titled Learning to Thrive in a Binary World: Understanding Gendered Experiences of Nonbinary Individuals and Ways to Bolster Wellbeing.  Their teaching is enriched by over six years practice experience with LGBTQ youth, adults, families, and communities.  You can learn more about Dr. Kinney at www.KillianKinney.com.
