Course Description

This broad-ranging survey class will explore the lives of Native American women in what is now called North and South America - in both historic and contemporary times. Some of the aspects explored will include; Art, Literature, Film, Customs, and Traditions as well as demystifying the image of Native American women in popular culture. We will also examine pedagogical techniques specific to the emerging canon of Native American Ethnic Studies and you will be introduced to Native women from the past and today, even Pocahontas herself. This will be a fully remote online class.
