Course Description

Satisfies Social Science General Education Requirement

This course examines the links between the European wars of the 20th century, gender ideals and migration. We will look at how the mass movements of peoples in the wake of World War I, World War II, decolonization, and the Cold War challenged existing ideas of masculinity and femininity, and created new social relations that shaped notions of citizenship and belonging. Course materials include historical monographs, articles, memoirs and films.
