The Luverne Walton Scholarship in Women Studies
The Luverne Walton Scholarship in Women Studies was created in the fall of 1996 to recognize the contributions of Professor Walton to the establishment of women’s studies and to gender equity on the MU campus.
Eligibility and Application
The Women's and Gender Studies Department awards the Luverne Walton Scholarship to outstanding Mizzou Women's & Gender Studies undergraduates majors who demonstrate an intellectual commitment to women’s and gender studies and/or issues of gender/sexual equity on campus or in the community.
The annual application period is February 1- April 15.
Applications must be submitted electronically via Scholarship Universe using the WGST application and includes a 500 word (or less) essay describing how the study of gender and sexuality has influenced the applicant’s academic career and/or activism on the MU campus or the Columbia community.
