The Luverne Walton Scholarship in Women Studies
The Luverne Walton Scholarship in Women Studies was created in the fall of 1996 to recognize the contributions of Professor Walton to the establishment of women’s studies and to gender equity on the MU campus.
Eligibility and Application
The Women's and Gender Studies Department awards the Luverne Walton Scholarship to outstanding Mizzou Women's & Gender Studies undergraduates majors who demonstrate an intellectual commitment to women’s and gender studies and/or issues of gender/sexual equity on campus or in the community.
One or more annual awards shall be made to undergraduate students who have demonstrated their commitments to the study of women and to gender equity. Students will apply for the scholarship award at the end of their sophomore or junior year through Scholarship Universe https://financialaid.missouri.edu/scholarships/scholarshipuniverse/.
Students who receive the award during their junior year may be continued on the scholarship during their senior year provided they remain in good academic standing and demonstrate continued commitment to the study of women and to serving women's interests.
